    01 OVERVIEW

A laboratory's work, gathered into one product.

Biogerm handles analysis for food, water and air safety. The platform brings the whole cycle together: ordering an analysis, tracking the sample, reading the certified report and settling the invoice, for clients with dozens of sites and for the lab team behind them.

    Sample to certificate

One thread from the order to the signed report.

    Status before numbers

What needs attention reads before any chart.

    Traceable end to end

Invoice, report and sample stay linked.

    02 CHALLENGE

A product that had grown without a structure.

    Work spread across tools

Orders by email, reports as attachments, invoicing somewhere else. Nothing showed the state of a sample in one view.

    Design without a system

The starting file had duplicated dashboards, no detail screens and loose components. It could not be handed to a developer.

    HOW MIGHT WE

give the lab one place to run its work, and give the product a structure it can grow on?

    03 THE PLATFORM

One layout, repeated across every module.

Each module opens the same way: a short briefing of the situation, three figures that matter, then the working area. Once the shape is learned in one module, the others are already familiar.

A written summary of the month, then samples, reports and invoices.

    04 STRUCTURE

    Five modules, one navigation.

The audit ended with a map: what each module owns, what it never owns, and where a screen must lead next.

    1. M.01DashboardThe state of the account in one read.
    2. M.02ResultsReports, filters and certified downloads.
    3. M.03OrdersNew requests, collections and the sample cycle.
    4. M.04DocumentationCertificates, procedures and legislation, linked to reports.
    5. M.05InvoicingInvoices tied to the report that generated them.

    05 PRINCIPLES

Four rules for a dense product.

    1. P.01Say it in wordsA sentence explains the numbers above the numbers.
    2. P.02Status is colourGreen, amber and red mean the same thing everywhere.
    3. P.03Filters stay visibleActive filters show as chips that can be removed one by one.
    4. P.04One primary actionEach screen leads to the next step, not to a menu.

    06 REFLECTION

The audit was the design work.

Naming what the product is, deciding what belongs in each module and cleaning the file were what made the screens quick to draw afterwards, and possible to hand over.
